Do you want to play Super Nintendo games on your iOS device, but don’t know how to? Well, here’s an easy step-by-step guide to installing a Super Nintendo emulator on your iOS device and start gaming. This doesn’t require a jailbroken device and works on iOS 8 – 8.0.2 as well and on any device that’s capable of running iOS 8 or later.

This is a guide for installing SiOS, a very popular emulator for iOS that lets you play Super Nintendo games such as Super Mario Kart, Tetris Attack and many more. However, you will need to perform a simple date trick to install this emulator and use it. Follow the step-by-step instructions below.

How To Install Super Nintendo Emulator SiOS

  • On your iOS device, open using Safari.
  • Tap on Apps and look for SiOS.

  • Tap on Install and select Install once again when prompted. Exit Safari to see SiOS loading, but not installing, on your Homescreen.
  • Cancel any error messages and head over to Settings>General>Date & Time and toggle Set Automatically off. Turn the date back to say a couple of months. You should now see SiOS installing.
  • Once it’s installed, open SiOS and exit out and you can change your date back to the current date.

That’s all folks. SiOS is now installed on your iOS device. It has been confirmed that Apple has managed to patch the date trick used in this tutorial in iOS 8.1 beta 1 and 2, so you will not be able to install SiOS or any other emulator that uses this method.

iOS 8.1 is scheduled to be released sometime this month!

downgrade iOS 8.1.1 to iOS 8.1

This article is a how to on downgrading your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to iOS 7.1.2 or iOS 8 from iOS 8.0.1.

iOS 8.0.1 was released by Apple to fix a few bugs in iOS 8, however it only created more. They have since pulled the update, but if you have already updated you may want to undo your decision to update and want to downgrade.

First you will need to make sure that the firmware you want to downgrade for is still being signed for your device. This page is a great way to see if it’s still being signed. Remarkably, at the time of writing, iOS 7.1.2 is still being signed and so you can still downgrade to that.

iOS 8.0 and iOS 7.1.2 signed by Apple

If you’ve checked that page and your firmware still is being signed, you’re OK to continue to the next step.

Next, download your IPSW file. This will be different for each model of device, and you can download the right one by going to our Downloads page. Make sure you download the right model or things could go wrong later.

After the IPSW has downloaded (it may take some time depending on your internet connection), open up iTunes and connect your device. Then hold the left ‘SHIFT’ (PC) or ‘Alt/Option’ (Mac) key and click on ‘restore’. Then select the file you downloaded earlier. If the file is 8.0.0 and not 7.1.2 you can use ‘update’ and still keep your data.

Note: If you have Find My iPhone enabled, it will prompt you to turn it off before restoring.

After this, the device will go through the process of restoring and then you should be good to go.

Let us know if you have any issues or questions in the comments below.

Did you update to iOS 8.0.1 on your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus recently? If so, you’re probably getting No Service and the TouchID on your device has most likely stopped working. Apple has pulled the buggy iOS 8.0.1 update from their servers and are working on a fix. However, I’m pretty sure that you cannot wait for Apple to issue a patch or update and want to use your iPhone 6/6 Plus to make calls.

  • Once you connect your iPhone, go to your device page on iTunes. Click on Check for Updates while holding the Option key in Mac and Shift key in Windows.
