Clap tweak settings

Has it ever happened to you that you forgot where you left your iPhone? Be it at your home, office or a friends place, this can be very annoying, specially if your iPhone is on Silent/Vibrate. Don’t you wish you could just call out to your iPhone and expect a reply? Well, this new tweak called Clap, does just that.

Clap

Clap listens to loud noises such as clapping or shouting and runs in the background on your iPhone. To try and not drain your battery, it only listens at set intervals and responds with a short and loud alarm. Once the tweak is enabled and suppose you misplace your iPhone, you can play the Hide and Clap game with your device. Just like in the movie The Conjuring!

The tweak also has another feature that uses the accelerometer to determine if the device is in motion, so it doesn’t activate itself at the wrong time. You can also easily Enable/Disable the tweak using the Ringer switch on your iPhone. The developer says that the tweak’s effect on the battery is hardly noticeable.

clap1

Clap is available in the BigBoss repo for $0.99. As of now, it doesn’t support the iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 8. Do you think this tweak will be useful to you?

Switchability tweak adds app switcher in Reachability view

A new Cydia tweak called Switchability brings the iOS App Switcher to the Reachability view on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Making the best of all the empty space when you turn on Reachability.

Switchability

Switchability lets you use the App Switcher from the Reachability view, making it easier to switch apps instead of double tapping the Home button every time. The tweak comes with plenty of options and gives a 3D or 2D Card like App Switcher, similar to how the Tabs appear in the Safari app. You also get other options that let you change the Title font, Space, adjust size of the Reachability view and more.

Once enabled, you’ll simply have to Double Tap the TouchID/Home button to launch Reachability and the App Switcher. Tap on an app card to switch to that app or swipe left to disable it. At the bottom of the App Switcher, you’ll also find options to close all apps and add your favorite apps.

switchability2

Like what this tweak does? You can download Switchability from the BigBoss repo in Cydia for $1.99. The tweak can do with some improvements, but it is a great idea and works quite well too. Try it out, if you wish, and let us know what you think.

WiFi Booster for iOS 8 jailbreak tweak

Sometimes, if a WiFi network doesn’t have a strong signal, your iOS device will not show it in the WiFi options. The iOS Settings app doesn’t show a network below a certain signal strength. That doesn’t mean that you cannot connect to it, but iOS doesn’t let you. To get rid of that problem, there’s a new tweak available in Cydia right now, called WiFi Booster.

WiFi Booster

Like its name, the tweak boosts WiFi reception on your iOS device and displays every available network in range, including the weak ones. It also shows the MAC address of the WiFi network along with true signal strength.

Therefore, using the WiFi Booster tweak, you can connect to a network that would otherwise be impossible to connect to. This tweak isn’t new, it’s been available on iOS 7 and older for sometime now. However, it was recently updated with support for iOS 8.

wifi-booster-ios-8

WiFi Booster isn’t a free tweak and will cost you $1.99. Is it worth it? Well, we’ll let you decide that. If you were already using WiFi Booster on iOS 7, then the update is free on iOS 8.

Try it out and let us know what you think of this tweak.

DoubleTapToSleep Cydia tweak in BigBoss repo

Does your iOS device have a broken or problematic Home button? Do you hate using AssistiveTouch to lock your screen or put your device to sleep? Well, this new tweak should solve that problem. DoubleTapToSleep is a new Cydia tweak that does exactly what the name suggests.

Double-tap-to-sleep

Once you install this tweak, you can simply double tap on your homescreen or the lockscreen to put your device to sleep. Simple as that. There are no options to fiddle with, just a straight-to-the-point tweak.

DoubleTapToSleep will work with all the new iPhones and iPads and yes, it supports iOS 8. The tweak is available for free in the BigBoss repo. Another tweak called Smart Tap, which wakes your device using the double tap gesture is also useful. However, you cannot use them both together unless the developers add other gestures or custom gestures to activate these tweaks.

Both these features have been taken from the Android ecosystem and can be very useful. What do you think of this tweak?

CameraTweak 3 tweak in action

The stock Camera app on iOS 8 doesn’t really give you a lot of options to meddle with. If you’re someone who prefers manual settings over automatic, then you’re going to love this tweak. CameraTweak has been available for a while now, but it was recently updated to CameraTweak 3 and came with iOS 8 support and a few other features.

CameraTweak 3

CameraTweak for iOS 8 brings extra features to the stock Camera app, such as a time lapse timer, manual focus, exposure, ISO, shutter speed and more. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus cameras are awesome, but the stock camera doesn’t really do justice to the hardware. With this tweak installed, you can take some truly amazing shots with ease.

Using the tweak, you can adjust the resolution of the camera and the FPS when shooting videos. It also comes with four different composition overlays to help you get that perfect pictures.

cameratweak3-1

CameraTweak 3 is available in the BigBoss repo for $1.49 and it is totally worth the money. It is only compatible with iOS 8, if you want the tweak on iOS 7 or earlier devices, you will have to try out CameraTweak 2.

volume amplifier cydia tweak on iPhone

The volume on the new iPhones is good, but it isn’t great as compared to other Android phones out there. The iPad volume is even worse. If you have a jailbroken device, then you can use the Volume Amplifier tweak to increase your devices volume by up to 200 percent. That’s loud!

Volume amplifier

Volume Amplifier isn’t a new tweak, but it has been recently updated to support iOS 8 and the newly launched Apple devices. Using this tweak, you can amplify any sound that comes from your devices external speaker, ear speaker and headphone output. Increasing the volume over a certain level and keeping it that way can and will damage your speaker. However, if you do it only when you need it, you can actually benefit from the extra sound.

After installing this tweak, you won’t have any Settings to play with. To amplify volume, keep pressing the Volume up button after it reaches full. The Volume Amplifier bar will show up and show the percentage of volume increased. Try not to hit the red level.

volumeamplifier1

The tweak will not work on the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. Also, on the iPhone 4s, you can only amplify the sound for In-call loudspeaker. On all other devices, including the new iPhone 6/6 Plus, Volume Amplifier can amplify all sounds.

You can download  from the BigBoss repo in Cydia for $1.99. Once again, make sure not to amplify the sound too much, or you could end up damaging your speakers.

Aeternum screenshot without labels

During the iPhone 6/6 Plus event in October, Apple also announced the Apple Watch. A wearable iOS device that comes with its own distinctive Watch OS. Many really liked the Watch user interface and to be honest, it does look better than the iOS interface. Now, what if you could run the same UI on your iOS device? Well, you can, thanks to a new jailbreak tweak called Aeternum.

screen3

There have been a few other tweaks that bring the Apple Watch UI to the iOS device, but this has to be the best one out of the lot. This is a fully functional Apple Watch UI, not just a theme and you get plenty of options. You can re-arrange the app icons according to your preference or in order of most used. The tweak also lets you enable/disable the dock, but the tweak looks best without the dock.

When you tap and hold to rearrange or remove an app, the apps start spinning in different directions, which looks great. All the other animations are butter smooth and tapping on an app will indeed open it.

screen4

If you want to use your own set of app icons, you can do that by adding your icons to the tweak location via iFile etc. Don’t want the tweak to display app names, there’s a toggle for that too.

All in all, this is a great tweak that changes the look of your iOS device. Aeternum is available in the BigBoss repo for $2.99. Try it out and let us know how you liked this tweak. Yes, you’re going to need a jailbroken device.

detailedbatteryusage cydia tweak screenshot

Do you want to know which app or process is using the most battery on your iOS device? Well, there’s a new tweak called DetailedBatteryUsage that provides you access to a battery usage menu used by Apple during development. Thanks to developer Hamza Sood, you can now find out what apps have been using the most CPU, GPU, Display etc. The tweak can do a lot more.

DetailedBatteryUsage

DetailedBatteryUsage unlocks a hidden menu in the Settings app, under General>Usage. The new Usage menu now shows a graph along with detailed information of what’s using the battery. For a regular user this may not be very important, but if you’re someone who likes to squeeze extra battery life from your iPhone or want to find the culprit for all the battery drain, then this tweak can come in very handy.

You can also view detailed battery usage information for every app on your device and look at graphs etc. Details about system daemons, which are basically background system processess, can also be viewed from the menu.

If you want to give this tweak a try, download it for free from Cydia. This tweak will only work on iOS 8 or later.

PullToRespring Cydia tweak

When you’re on a jailbroken device, it’s always useful to have a Respring or Reboot button easily accessible. A new Cydia tweak called PullToRespring has been released for iOS 8, which lets you Respring your device from the Settings app.

PulltoRespring

The iOS 8 jailbreak is only a few weeks old, hence the low number of tweaks that work without any issues. There are other tweaks, such as Power Tap, that provide Reboot, Respring and other options in a much more simpler way. However, PullToRespring is also an useful tweak to try out.

After installing PullToRespring, you can simply open the Settings app and pull down to Respring your device. Nothing more to configure, a very simple and to-the-point tweak.

You can download PulltoRespring from the BigBoss repo for free.
