TaiG 1.2.0 is available for download from our downloads section. A tutorial on how to jailbreak iOS 8.1.2 using TaiG 1.2.0 will follow soon. Nothing has been changed in the way the TaiG tool functions, just that it can jailbreak the newly released iOS 8.1.2 now.

If you’ve been waiting to update to iOS 8.1.2, you can do so now.

As we’ve been waiting for Apple to release iOS 8.2, another minor update iOS 8.1.2 was released instead. iOS 8.1.2 fixes a bug that caused ringtones downloaded from the iTunes Store to disappear for some users. Apart from that, there’s nothing new in this update.

If you’ve been facing this ringtone issue, then you probably want to update to iOS 8.1.2. Don’t worry, it doesn’t patch the TaiG jailbreak. It has been confirmed that the iOS 8.1.2 firmware can be jailbroken using the TaiG tool, once it’s updated of course. iH8sn0w posted on Twitter that iOS 8.1.2 doesn’t patch the TaiG jailbreak.

ih8sn0w says iOS 8.1.2 is jailbreak friendly to taig

So yes, jailbreakers too can update to iOS 8.1.2 and not worry. iOS 8.1.2 is only available for iPhone 4s and later, iPad 2 and later and iPod Touch 5.

Download Semi-Restore With iOS 8.1 Support

Have you ever been in a situation where your jailbroken device is acting up, but you don’t want to restore because you’ll have to start fresh? Well, that’s where the Semi-Restore tool comes in. You can use this useful piece of tool to restore your iOS device without losing the jailbreak. Now, this tool also supports the latest iOS 8.1.

In short, Semi-Restore will uninstall all the tweaks installed by Cydia and cleanup your device. So yes, it isn’t a complete restore, but it is useful. For example, if you’re on iOS 8.1 and Apple stops signing iOS 8.1, then you have no choice but to update to iOS 8.1.1 or 8.2 and lose the jailbreak. By using Semi-Restore, you can simply restore to iOS 8.1 and retain your jailbreak.

As of now, Semi-Restore for iOS 8.1 is useless, as Apple is still signing it. Once it stops signing it and your jailbroken device runs in to some kind of trouble, then you can use this tool to restore to iOS 8.1 without losing the jailbreak. The tool is only available for Windows and Linux users, but a Mac version is in the making. You’re also going to install OpenSSH from Cydia on your device to use this tool.

Download Semi-Restore from the downloads page.

iOS 8.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Shown Video By iH8Sn0w

A new video has surfaced showing an iPad 3 untethered jailbroken on iOS 8.1.1. iOS hacker iH8sn0w uploaded the video to his YouTube channel showing us that an iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak is still possible.

Apple released iOS 8.1.1 last week, but it had patched the iOS 8 jailbreak by Pangu. Although this video is proof that an iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak is still possible, don’t expect iH8sn0w to release it to the public. He has always teased new jailbreaks but never released it. Also, this jailbreak works only with older iOS devices with 30 pin connector and uses a new exploit, not bootrom or HFS. Check out the jailbreak in action below:

If you have updated to iOS 8.1.1 and still want to jailbreak, you can’t. However, you can still downgrade to iOS 8.1 and use the Pangu tool to jailbreak. Apple also seeded the first beta of iOS 8.2 to developers yesterday.

downgrade iOS 8.1.1 to iOS 8.1

iOS 8.1.1 was released by Apple a few days ago and it kills the Pangu iOS 8 – 8.1 jailbreak. If you did update to iOS 8.1.1, but miss the jailbreak and all the awesome tweaks, then we have some good news for you. Apple is still signing iOS 8.1, which means you can downgrade from iOS 8.1.1 if you want the jailbreak back. Remember, Apple may stop signing iOS 8.1 anytime, so you better downgrade soon.

Downgrade iOS Firmware

The downgrade process is simple, if you follow our step-by-step tutorial. You’ll need to do a few things before you can downgrade. Firstly, download the iOS 8.1 IPSW for your iOS device from our downloads section. Next, perform a backup of your iOS device, just in case. Also, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed.

How To Downgrade iOS 8.1.1 To iOS 8.1:

  • Connect your iOS 8.1.1 device to iTunes.
  • Select your device on iTunes and click on Restore iPhone/iPod/iPad while holding Shift on your Windows computer or Alt/Option key on Mac.
  • Browse to the location where you downloaded the iOS 8.1 IPSW and select it.
  • Choose Verify when a prompt appears and wait for the process to complete.

You should be on iOS 8.1 now and you can go ahead and jailbreak using the Pangu8 tool. Follow our tutorial on how to jailbreak iOS 8 – 8.1 on Mac, Windows.

iOS 8.2 beta for iphone, ipad, ipod touch

Apple has released the first beta of iOS 8.2 today, build number 12D436, available now for developers. The beta comes just a day after the iOS 8.1.1 public release, which brought performance and stability improvements to iPhone 4s and iPad 2 along with other bug fixes.

iOS 8.2 beta 1 is mainly focused on developing apps and other goodies for the Apple Watch. The iOS 8.2 beta with WatchKit, which was also released today, can be used to develop apps, design actionable notifications, glances and other interface elements for the Watch.

We don’t know what else is new with the iOS 8.2 beta 1 other than WatchKit support, but we will be looking for all things new. Apple also released Xcode 6.2 beta today.

If you’re a developer, you can get the latest iOS 8.2 beta via over-the-air update or from Apple’s developer portal.
